Power steering Question
I have a 1972 Dodge Swinger with a Federal P.S. Pump, I am trying to drop the pressure to firm up the steering feel, Is it possible to put a adj. Hydraulic pressure valve in the high pressure line to drop the pressure?, The relief valve on the Fed. Pump is hard to get to?

Don't have it handy, there is an article about shimming the pressure relief valve in the pump
Ok I went and got it here http://www.moparaction.com/Tech/beep...WN-re-v1.4.pdf |
Has anyone took a Federal pump apart to shim the pressure valve?, Do you have to remove the pulley our can you acess it by removing the reservoir only?

Yes, I did that operation a few months ago. Mine's a '66 Dart GT, slant six. I got a federal pump and built brackets to fit. The pressure valve is relatively easy to remove. Disconnect the steel line and then use a big wrench (one inch or thereabouts, don't remember) and remove the pressure valve. Adding shims reduces steering assist. I resized some washers to use as shims. Removing the pump from the car makes this easier.
