TRANNY LINKAGE HELP PLEASE-ALSO DISTRIBUTOR WIRING!!
Tried posting the trans part in the transmission section and havent had any responces, I have a 70 coronet I need a picture or diagram of the automatic on the column linkage down by the trans area, I took it apart left it on the trans, when the trans came back from the rebuild the linkage was in pieces and I have no idea-cant remember how it was on the car,
Second anyone help with wiring for my dist. its electronic I have no msd box just the orange little box-I think is stock and the little T looking plastic thing with two wire spots one on each side--yea I know this makes me sound super smart LOL-first mopar I have gotten this in depth with, ANY help would be appreciated, wanna start the new 408 tomorrow!

And Welcome to the site....
Thanks for all the help!!!! Ben so busy working and spent all weekend at the Jefferson Swap meet-huge swap for anyone who hasnt heard of it-got my fathrer inlaw a tail panel for his 68 gtx for $45!!! Spent all night sunday and a couple hours last night thrashing on the car to get it running, got everything done except trans linkage, went to trun the key and nothing happened, after a half hour of checking connections I realized the reverse lights where on-once I shifted the trans back to park it cranked over very nicely but no fire, and a nice gas leak. Gonna have to study the ignition diagram you sent me 67hemidart. Hopefully soon I will be able to post a video of it!
Here's what you need to know about Mopar electronic ignition. ALL Mopar ECU systems OF THIS TYPE use the same wiring except for Lean Burn, AND the minor difference between 4 and 5 pin ECUs
There are/ can be some difference between special order boxes and resistors
The OLDER 5 pin ECU MUST have a 4 terminal ballast resistor
The NEWER 4 pin ECU CAN use EITHER 2 or 4 terminal ballast
You cannot always tell a 4 pin from a 5 by looking, as some (aftermarket?) replacement ECUs still have 5 pins--it's simply that the 5th pin is not connected.
If you wire the harness for a 4 pin resistor, you can use EITHER 5 or 4 pin ECU
If the distributor MAY have been apart, make SURE the retainer pin for the reluctor is in the correct notch. For small blocks, which rotate CW, the retainer should be in the reluctor notch with the CW arrow. B/ RB engines are opposite
Make sure you carefully check the reluctor gap at .008" with a non - magnetic (brass) feeler. Believe it or not, O'Reallys had these in stock
If this is a used system, "work" the connectors -- especially the dist. pickup -- in/ out (a little bit of the 'ol in-out) several times to scrub the connector pins clean
Diagrams are redundant, but here, anyway:
Newer, 4 pin ECU with 2 pin resistor

Original / older 5 pin ECU with 4 pin resistor
NOTICE the notch at the bottom of the resistor. It is important to orient the connections this way because the two sections of the resistor are different

That is the easiest diagram I have ever seen thanks both 440roadrunner and bremereric, I wont be able to work on it till late tonight again, but I already have everything printed off, shoudnt be to bad to figure out with all the info you guys provided!, ONE MORE QUESTION-I have the orange and I think black(could be brown wire hooked up via the plug in from the dist. but I also have another plug in coming off the dist. with a green and blue wire going to a black square plastic plug-a freind said it might be for a msd setup or tachomete(I do not have a msd box)
Thanks again for all the info guys!
Thanks again for all the info guys!
Thanks again for all the info, it ended up being the little round gear in the dist. it was all nicked up lick it was hitting at some point, replaced the dist. and it fired right up!
OK so I got that figured out now does anyone have any pictures they can take/share of the tranny linkage!!!!!!!!!!!!! literally have that-throttle linkage, and the rear u-joint thats beatin me up, and I can get it out to test the line lock!!!!!!!
