It sure would. You'll have to look intot he measurement in the 8 3/4 to make sure that it is the right width, but all of those go fast items will fit in there nicely.
You'll need some other items too though. FYI.

what if I was to put in a 340 would a 727 transmission still work if soo what would be the best rear end and gears for just a street car that can go fast but not like raceing or anything

for a 340. you'll need a small block 727, the big block 727 will not bolt up.
The 8 3/4 rear axle is a great axle to go with reguardless to what you have in there for a motor. For the street, i'd go with a set of 3.23-3.55 gears with sure grip.

Hot Rod TV is doing a budget build on a 360 that is putting out some nice HP. I think it would still fall under the small block 727 but if you look in the junk yards Im sure they are there.

the 383 is the way to go you can get a 4 barrrel intake and 600 holley carb at any swap meet and have more power than a 340 and with 355 gears it will make it from gas station to gas station with half a gallon to spare, that is my input if you would like to have a weekend warrior

When swapping rear ends pay attention to the brakes as well. If you end up with 15's on the rear and have 14's on the front you might have a brake bias problem, easily solved with proper proportioning valve. Also the brake wheel cylinders could be a different size affecting master cylinder. Sounds complicated, it really isn't.

I have a 8 3/4 rearend but im not sure on the gear ratio. Its not super aggressive so i think 2.93 or 3.23 probably.
