1970 Plymouth Fury - Lots of questions
Im trying to figure out a good value/price for my grandfather to sell his '70 Fury, or at least list it at, and hope for offers
The problem is, my dad and I cant figure out what came stock, whats been added, and out of what was added, which modifications add value or subtract! We did some looking in NADA, and talked to a couple people around here in Raleigh, NC, and have so far been told between $7000 and $8000. No idea if that will ever find a buyer though, which is where you guys come in I hope!
So, anything youve got to say about this, please post up! Tell me if somethings terrible, incorrect, ridiculous, etc...also if you could come up with a price you would guess it could sell for, thatd be great
So, the stats that my grandfather gave me:
1970 Plymouth Fury III - 2-door Hardtop
383 badging - buildsheet lists engine code 077?
Dual Flowmaster exhaust (headers back..I cant tell if the headers are Flows..they look plated or ceramic coated..not like the rest of the system)
69,000 miles (attached pic of actual mileage)
Holley 600 4-barrel carb - 325 hp
Original paint (Azure green..or something Azure)
-He doesnt know for sure, but the original owner told him it has Roadrunner heads on it..and my grandpa agrees because of how much power it seems to have
-Minor damage to drivers door edge (from hitting carport wall over the years)
-Thinks electronic ignition box was added
-Built Aug. 1969, sold 1970 in Arkansas, and lived out its life there and in South Carolina with my grandfather..so..no real rust to be found
-The fenders have Fury III 'Limited Edition' badging, but my grandpa said he thinks he just found those in a junkyard and stuck them on years ago? Any clue?
Pics: (click for larger image)
Note the minor oil leak on the cardboard in the grass
The dual air inlets look different from the picture in the owners manual...again..I have no idea what a stock 383 setup should look like in this car.
Another engine pic
All metal and wheels are original as far as I know
Dash
The Hardtop was replaced in the last couple years..not sure if that means just the vinyl...or if that was the structure too.
This is the questionable badging
To recap: Lemme know whatever you can tell me! Is $7-8k accurate? Also let me know if you need to see any other pictures to help your decision And Im not sure how much it helps resale, but hes got all the original literature..build sheet, manuals, owners card, and all service records. Thanks for your help!

Almost all the time, it depends on what its worth to the buyers. One buyer might spend $8K and another might only spend $6K. List it for what you think its worth (start a little high but too much) and then you can always drop the price some if it doesn't sell. After the price say "or best offer" or "price is negosable" (but do a better job at spelling).

Nice car, too bad you have to sell it. The hood is a sport fury hood. 70 only, If the hoods origonal to the caar then it has the 383 magnum motor in it at 335 horse, basically yes it is a road runner motor. the 383 mag was an engine option in many mopar models in 70. if thats the case then the dual snorkel air cleaner is also origanal to the car, the man, t-n-t, commando motors all got the dual snorkel cleaner unless it was an air grabber, then they got that cleaner. never heard of the se badges, cant help you there. id say the cars worth 7,500.00 at least, but the markets down now so you may not get that much, good luck.

It looks real clean and good, I would start by asking 8k for it and as 78 said put price negotiable.
Does not have to be 8K, I am saying that the pictures lead me to believe you should start on the higher end of the price range, as it is real nice looking.

Thanks for all the info!! So at least I can compile a pretty good listing and description for it
As for selling it, what would be the best route to go? Throw it on craigslist and just fish for offers? Or would trying some collector car shows be a better route?
