I'm looking at possibly buying one and am looking to see if there is any prominent problems in these motors. Thanks for the help!

YES! Very subject to Oil starvation. Theres stuff on this all over the web. Situation is there are some small passages that are prone to the oil "coking" or building up in them and blocking supply. These engines can run well and long BUT regular oil changes are a MUST. Synthetic is even better.

Ok, thanks for that information. Are they like the motors in the Monte Carlo's and such where the head gasket blows? I'm kind of torn between a 2000 LHS, and a 1997 Avenger. The only thing I was worried about on the Avenger was the possibility of the head gasket going, like it did in my dad's V6 Monte Carlo. The LHS needs some minor work but I'm not really into the whole luxury thing. I like the smaller car.

The Avenger is a JA body car and as so it has a 4cly or a 2.5 v6. I've taken my 2.5 to over 200,000 miles with few problems. If thats any help.
