Bought a steel crank today that has been turned .010 on both ends, factory 3.75 stroke. My questions being the rookie I am is what do I have to do if anything to make sure the rods and bearings go in all ok?? SInce its turned .010 do I need to get anything else machined or bigger bearings or can I still use for example stock 440 6 pack rods?

 

I run a steel/forged crank from a 1973 motorhome block...the six pack rods are beefy...people complain about them because they weight a ton and do not spin up to high rpm as with lighter rods...who gives a crap...shot peen them...re-size them and put some ARP wavelock bolts in them and your done...nothing wrong with spinning the crank .010...if the rod and mains are turned .010 then you will need to get .010 over sized bearings for the mains and the rods

 

Yes, you'll need to have your rods resized at the machine shop, and the corresponding bearings to fit with the machine work thats been done. The machine shop guys will help you out. Get to know them well.That steel crank is a good investment. Freakin' bomb proof. Have fun.
