i'm looking at buy a 440 but i not sure the history of it. the # on the block are 3698830 44730-9. Can someone help me out

 

This is an RB block that was produced between 73 & 78.

 

hi 72, if you look on the top of the motor, youll find a square pad across from the dist. there will be some numbers stamped on that pad get those and post them we can tell you more about the motorr then. itll say like top left corner J440, underneath that itll have numbers like this, 2 20thats the engine assmb. date, then look on the pass. side of the block right behind the motor mount bosses, there will be a set of number on the block like this, 6 12 74 , thats the month, day, and year that the block was cast. hope this helps.
