70s motor home 413 engine worth much?
70s motor home 413 engine worth much?
I found a 413 engine inside a motor home in a bone yard, still had the air cleaner on it which said 413, 265 horsepower. I was curious what if any the engine might be worth if I sold it as a rebuild which I am sure would be the case. Engine is complete from thremoquad to pan.
Thanks for any estimates.

Plus the trannies are stronger than the ones found in the cars. You wouldn't make your money back if that is what you are wondering though, at least not in today's market unless you own your own machine/engine rebuilding shop.
no, unless you can get it for like 2 bills, then maybe sell it for 450-500, but thats about it, not a big market for them. not like 440`s.If you have a project yourself, and dont mind its a 413 and not a 440, its a great motor to build, just not as desireable.
RV 413"s
It may have a gear driven cam which in turn will cause the cam to turn in the oposite direction. With that, there may be an odd distributor which uses an adapter. These are low compression engines. 383-400 water pumps, heads and a few other components will interchange. About all RB parts will fit--cams, heads, distributor (cam must be changed to use dist.) oil pump
If the trannie has the drum brake, you can change the output shaft and tail housing. It is stronger as Tim said.

I believe most had forged cranks, I know my 72 motor home does. It had the gear driven cam, which I got rid of putting a timing chain and gears in there place with a different cam. The trans doesn't have the brake drum park on it but it has a bolt on yoke bolted to the output shaft. So that will have to be changed.
70s 413 with a thermoquad? I thought they stopped making the 413s in the early 60s. Thermoquads were on the 340, 360 and 400 mid 70s smogger engines. I think I'd check some casting numbers, it's not pointing to a 413. Maybe it was a special made 413 for motorhomes.
