727 torque flite transmission

I have a leak in the plug/fitting at the front of the transmission above the cooling line . When I attempt to remove the fitting/plug I am unable to get it loosened , however when I loosened the 3/4 outer fitting it seems like it may be a locking device and the square plug/fitting is an adjustment . I am afraid to remove it and may have already changed the adjustment ...any suggestions about what may be happening here would be appreciated . I want to teflon the threads to stop the leak .

That is the kickdown band adjustment. Tighten the inner "bolt" to 72 in lbs then back out 2-2 1/2 turns and tighten outer "nut" to 30 in lbs. The amount of back out will vary based on year and vehicle so the proper manual should be referenced. There is no seal on the adjusting screw but you can put a dab of silcone under the locking nut.

Well I don't know about free but HP Books has a good one by Carl H. Munroe. The band adjustment should be in just about any vehicle specific manual.
This is how it is suppose to work, a guy asks a question a guy gets an answer.
Some of those Furd forums I look at for my son you ask then get "why do you want
to do that bla bla bla". Mopar guys are the best, keep asking someone will give you
a prompt correct answer without all the B.S..

Depending on how much you turned it ? If you have any problems adjusting it ? You may have to remove the pan. It is possible for the strut to fall out of position
