Good question. The only way I know of is if you have the valve body out It should have a star within a circle with a year date cast in it...

Along the driver's side pan rail there is a stamped number, in the number is the date code. After '68 they added a pad, just above which has VIN stamped to it. Post up your pan rail number and we'll give it a go.

If the 4378 number has a space on either side then I have it as June 1973.

Are there spaces or dashes between the numbers? If so, where are they. The date code is a 4 digit number. 2197 converts to 8-3-67

There were some minor improvements made after 1970 but a 727 is a good tough transmission. Improve it to match your power and planned useage, stock ones will take alot of torque.

That long number should be in three groupings, the center or second group (4 digit) number will be the date code based on the chrysler 10,000 day calender.

Forget what I said, Coronet 500 is correct, and you could have found this out with a simple google search.
