Hi im new here and i dont own a mopar yet but im working on it. Theres a 1973 dodge dart for sale near me for about $2000. it looks runs really well and has a slant 6 in it. How costly is it to do an engine swap and can i do this? im only 16 and don't know much about this but would love to learn. btw, what kind of MPG does a stock slant 6 get (im a poor 16 year old i have to ask)any help is greatly appreciated in advance!

Hopefully the car your looking at runs and is in service now. Do not buy a dead car.
These cars are very reliable and have a lot of potential. Cars are a learning thing, get a good Motors Manual or Chiltons. They are avialable cheap at most of the used book places. They're excellent and will help you a lot.
An one can learn about cars, do a little reading, look under the hood and identify things and see what doesn't look right and get some advice as to what to do.
Mechanic careers are very rewarding, a lot of common sense is used, something many people fail to utillize. A lot of people cannot see the forest for the trees.

I know this post is a bit old,but I'm restoring a 73 dart sport and I love it. It came with no badges, and nobody knows what it is, so i'm always getting questions about it. I think the Dart would be a good choice. Make sure you're prepared to spend money. In the end though,it's worth it. Goodluck!
