"All years?" 915 heads were only used in 67, and maybe late 66. In their day, they were THE head to have.

The most expensive & difficult to find BB heads , 67 440 only !!
Bolt on some Stealth or Super stealths & go

i'd go with the newer heads... thats based off a failed project when i tried to use older stuff and it turned into a waste... sold the block and all the parts... i tried to build a max wedge motor and got in over my head

$250 is a decent price for them but I assume they will need new valves , hard exhaust seats ,springs & machining , I do my own porting but paying for that will cost but even stealth heads cost to port but you can cut Alum faster , weight out the budget , a set of stealths with new 10* retainers & locks should end up cheaper

whats a set of stealths gonna run? just got that darn 915 number stuck in my head. kinda like the old school i guess. heck i dont know. motors going in for bottom half in couple weeks. motor guy is building same motor with 915s. he said the owner of that one is keeping stock manifolds with new ign. and carb. said it should be no prob to get 425 out of it. he's gonna dyno next week. i'll be there

Me, too. I have 915s that appear to be very nice in the machine shop with the block. Curious to see what the estimate will be for doing the 915s right. I was going to go with the Stealths, but I'd rather go with the 915s at this point since I want to use stock exhaust manifolds. I like the idea of clamping iron heads to an iron block for durability. (If this were a Hemi, I would be using aluminum heads.)

Personally, I think using 915's with stock manifolds is a waste of time.

Yes, that may be true. I have a honkin' set of hookers and the rest of the exh sys intact, so...just want a strong core motor that will handle a good cam. Right now just assessing. I did One half-a**ed build. Won't do it again, if I can help it.
