As some of you may already know, I'm rebuilding a 360. As soon as I take it all apart I'm going to bore out the block.

My question is, how much of the engine can I replace with aluminum?

I prefer to get rid of the cast rods, and just use aluminum piston return springs.

 

aluminum piston return springs? where do you get a good deal on them?

mate water pump & housing , radiator , inlet manifold , heads , fiber glass bonnet or carbon fiber ( i assume this is to save weight ) tappet cover ??? weight saving . titanium retainers , light weight pistons , I beam rods , tubular k frame , tubular upper control arms . flexilight fan , dry cell battery . alloy block . theres a start .

Street car, daily driver. But wouldn't mind taking it down to the track every now and then.

They come as part of a kit with magnesium pistons. Once it warms-up you dont need an ignition anymore!

 

Dude don't forget the blinker fluid.

 

Wow that's a lot of stuff to lighten your car.... And a lot of money too I bet. =/
