Couple of newbi's questions.

Hello..

am new to the forums here, so i would start by introducing myself.
am Chris from Edmonton AB. |Canada.

well, am 18 years old so am not experienced with cars atall.. so excuse me if my question were way to dum :P

First, i love Mopar cars since am a kid, so i have been waiting for the time for me to buy a car to buy a Mopar. BUT alot of people kept telling me it's a bad idea, it takes alot of care and alot of mech. working blablabla... so my question is, is it a bad idea to buy a Mopar as my first car?

and my second question would be, are Mopar cars drivable in snow? :P cause i have NEVER seen one in winter, they only show up in Summer.

Am so sorry if my question were so dum/funny, but i really need answers for those questions ,

Hi Chris ... Mopars don't need any more work than any other car. Who is saying that ?

What specific car or cars are you interested in ?

Hello Doc thanks for you answer.

am intrersted in the 73 satellite and ofc i love Charger, but if you confirmed to me i will be ok with a mopar as a first car + drivable in snow, i will be looking for Satellite

You would probably be better off with that Satellite ... unless you have unlimited funds .. it would fit into your budget better. Most good Chargers are hi $$.

Now as far as a snow-car ?.... most any FWD Mopar would do much better than any RWD would be. If you were to find a real nice Satellite ...why would you want to drive it during the winter anyways?

You can pick up a winter "beater" that you don't have to worry getting the snow and salt all over it.

That's my problem, i don't know why wouldn't i drive the satellite in the snow? i would guess to not rust it, but can't i do something to reduce the ;prob. that it get a rust?

what are those snow beaters?

what is you personal recommendation for me?i have budge of 8-13 grands...i need a car to drive in the winter/summer.

Look here ....in the cars for sale .. there is a guy selling two cars one is a RR the other is a Sat !

13 grand ? .. you can do very nicely with that. You can buy the car ... do a nice restro and buy a winter-beater FWD car and probably have some $$$ left over.

I can't get 2 cars cause i only have 1 parking slot.
but man, i LOVE this Satellite

and btw am from, Canada (Alberta) is it good idea to buy cars from the US? cause i heared it costs 2000-4000 for the shipping only.

btw whats winter beater?

When I first started out .... I was only "allowed" one car too. So I rented a neighbors garage. Shipping can be expensive ..... so you just go and pick-them-up.

A winter beater ? ... a cheap FWD car ... like an Omni or Shadow.

Today i asked one of those who told me that Mopar is bad idea in the snow, why id he say so... he think they has no ESP..

Any RWD car is not as good as a FWD or AWD.

We have some big-snow up here ...and my little stick-shift Caravan daily-driver does very nicely !

A cheap good-mpg little FWD Mopar ? .. Daytona, Omni, Shadow. That Dodge Caravan works well too. And it will haul alot of stuff.

i decided to take your advice and buy a cheap car for the winter and something in range of 6-7 grands for the summer (Mopar) but, i can't find any 1971/1973 Plymouth Satellite Anywhere in my province , am still looking around, and i hope i find something soon

(((((1969 PLYMOUTH SATELLITE, 2 doors, hard top, mint rust free fenders, new front end parts, good floor, rockers, inner fenders, comes with 1969 4 door parts car, excellent dash pads, good grill, many other good parts, $4500.))))

what do you think?

GOOD LUCK with that .... the same area code ? .... is lots better than having to travel 2000 miles for !! ... keep an eye out for rust though. OR the fixes of same.

For a 69 sat i think that is a really good price if it is not a rust bucket and like doc said fwd will be better in the snow but just throw some snow tires on a rwd and have a blast

im sure its a 318 motor and if thats the case its alittle lighter in the front and will be alittle better in the snow >>><<< any way you look at it since you are just really starting out driving please be carefull on what ever you drive expecially in the snow and it would be nice to start out with a rwd so you can get the real feeling of SnOw but either way im sure doc will agree you also have to look out for that other person that might also not be used to snow ( p.s in my opinion the sats and chargers to me were always good in the snow with the right tires as i have driven them both for years in the white stuff and to this day wish i never had because of the value these cars are at right now with no rust
Good luck and remember the chebyies and ferds are what im saying are the beaters cars hehehe... some people start with the rest and end up with the best (MoPaRs)

i will see the car tomorrow, i hope it has no rut.. and anyway i decided to buy a dodge caravan for the winter, i found a good one for 2 grands, now i only have to find the good mopar
am praying to find 1972/3 sat. i just love that car..

i will update you with pics. and info when i see that 1969 sat.

The only reason i like sat. more then RR because the 1972/3 sat. ..

otherwise RR is better.

what i ment is that my fav. sat. are the 1972/3 , thats why am not so interested in this 1969 sat. i saw today

it was in a good shaP and almost no rust , but i didn't like it's body that much..
