distributor removal?

Looking to adjust my vac advance on my Mopar electronic ignition. From what I have read, there's a 3/32 allen screw inside the canister to achieve this. My problem is, the Edelbrock Performer manifold I have has a feature that is in the way of me getting an allen wrench in this spot. I could get to it if I pulled the distributor up just a short distance (1" or so). Do I need to worry about the oil pump gear alignment or anything else by pulling the distributor up this small amount, or does it only come into play if I remove the distributor completely? Hope thois makes sense.

You will be fine, just remember the rotor orientation, as the shaft will come out of the drive gear

I assume from your description this is a V8 and not a /6. All late Mopar V8's have a flat tang drive, like a screwdriver. This means the dist. can only go back in one of two ways. As said above, just remember or write down where the rotor points, and put it back in that way. Easy.
