dodge 340 oil

hello folks. I have a built 340 engine and the previous owner ran 20w 50 racing oil in it and always had oil leaks at the filter adapter. well I'm running 80 to 90 psi and got the bright idea that I would make a round gasket out of cork I used that Indian head sealant on both sides of the gasket and put it on and tightened the big bolt as tight as I could. No leaks until about a month later. 1st question is I guess cork is bad for gaskets but the little thin gray paper gasket that comes with the new bolt and nylon washer don't get it either. Is there a plastic gasket for this. And is that press to high should I switch to 10w30 oil Thanks for any help

You have a high volume oil pump. I hope you have a 7 qt oil pan. The filter adapter/ plate may be bent ? The paper gasket should work fine. IF you have the 90 deg adapter ? try running the surface over a piece of wet/dry sand paper
