efi motor to carb conversion advice needed
As a newbie here I guess I should introduce myself. My name is Billy and I am in Canton, TX. I suppose I view myself as a Chevy guy but have owned just about everything. 52 yrs old with a wife and 3 boys. I get my speed thrills on my '83 V65 Magna. My 16 yr old boy bought a '55 Dodge Royal in pretty good shape, but it has no engine. He just picked up a near complete running 360 engine out of a mid 90'ish full size van. It has a throttle body efi and he want to convert it over to a carb for simplicity and cost savings. We are thinking a new intake, carb and distributor and do a bit of plumbing and done. I have minimal experience with Mopar stuff. I am hearing it is not a good idea to try and carb an efi engine. True or not? Advice? He does not want to make this a hotrod. Looking for good driveability and no worse than it has to be on mileage. Any additional info needed, I will gladly post it. We could take the engine back and start looking for a carb version. How involved would it be to make this engine work on a '55 with all the efi stuff? $$$ does matter. TIA y'all.
