Engine Shipping Question

Hi Guys,

I'll be shipping an engine to the east coast in a couple of months. I found a local crate in good used condition and then I re-enforced it with better wood slats and 2x4's. I bought a used pallet jack to move the engine and pallet around in my garage but realized that the jack's forks are too wide to access the pallet's openings. The pallet is apx 36" wide and 48" deep. Will this be an issue when I take it to have it shipped?

I'd prefer not to have to unwrap the engine, unstrap it and start anew but will do so if it's going to be a problem, add costs, etc.

Any info is appreciated.

I would stay with the standard Pallet Spec... 48X40.. Easier to move around in the truck for the driver.
You might look into one of these guys? or check with the shipper and see if you can get one cheaper from them....

Hi Bob, not the info I wanted to hear but I had a feeling it would come to that. Nonetheless, it's cheaper to do it the right way once then two or more times the wrong way. I think I'll call a local shipping company and see if I can buy a used 48 x40 pallet from them. The crates in the link you sent were really nice but would cost me about $300!!! Christmas is around the corner
Thanks for the feedback and I hope you are doing well!
