Finally got my B-body! '68 Coronet 440

I posted a fairly recent thread talking about this car but I didnt have any pictures. I decided to buy it and went and picked it up today! I gave $1,800 for it! I think I scored a pretty good deal considering the only cancerous rust on it is on the passenger side quarter panel. Other than that it is all surface. Floor pans are awesome extremely sturdy all surface rust not even starting to really eat on them anywhere! Also I got a lot of parts I'm not going to use on it that I can sell and score some of my money back. Anyways here she is. This is a barnfind by the way lol. She doesn't look like much now but shes gonna be a killer ride when I get her done. Also any leads on any R/T body parts for it would be helpful. I am needing an R/T tail panel and taillight bezels also will be looking for an R/T black grill and I am looking for a lift off hood for it. Anyways what do you guys think?

Great car for the price. They are still out there everywhere if you are willing to look and be patient. My 69 GTX I am restoring had same issues at the bottom of window channels...Get out the wire feed --if you are cheap--and you can weld, grind, weld, grind, and fill that up with metal..You can make it look good--or you can cut it out and put in corners which I think are about 110.00 a side? I put metal behind mine and took die grinder and did it until it was right...Fix your floor and put down PORS to seal it up....Nothing less than a 440 and go from there!

You got it, love it when we got my brothers dart we had the same thing with the rust from the top. We saved what we could and cut the rest but used a product called Por-15 that my friend told me about. It worked out well for us used a nice kit they had.Dont know if anyone ells has used them

Yes and it will for a while sadly. Lol I would like to put a big block in this one though, I want to get a 440 4 speed set up for it when ever i get the money saved up for all the parts. I found a guy that has a rebuilt 23 spline 4 speed for 550. I believe he said it was a 23 spline it was either a 23 or 18 he said its not the hemi one. But before I worry about it running fast I'm more worried about getting all the R/T body parts most of them I have located but.... that F-ing tail panel! lol I have yet too see one for sale. Only way i have seen one for sale is if its on a damn car! lol And the just about the same goes for B body bucket seats, they are kind of a challenge to find as well but I have located a couple different sets. Any help finding that tail panel would be very very very much appreciated. They only came on 68 coronet R/T's and 68 Coronet 500's. And BTW thanks for the compliments guys. I don't think the rust is going to give me too much hell I'll have it all fixed before too long. The only cancerous places are on the passenger quarter other than that its mostly light surface rust.

I just received the new issue of Hemming's Muscle Machines magazine. It has a red '70 Malibu convertible on the cover.
Anyways, there is a very good article on the '68/'69 R/T like yours with lots of information. Along with your "R/T" tail panel... the "Power Bulge" hood is sweet!

I will have to check that out. Does it happen to say where a guy could find that tail panel? Maybe a repro or something? And yes I like the power bulge hoods as well but I'm wanting to go with a lift off hood I think they look killer on them.

Well I may be in luck. I called a guy thats in town on some mopar parts and asked him if he may have had any leads on where I can hunt the parts down that I am wanting. And he told me "No BUT didnt you know they are having a mopar show and swap meet tomorrow in tulsa?" I felt very stupid for not knowing this.... But atleast I found out a day before rather than a day after like usual lol. So hopefully I can go out there tomorrow morning and find some of the parts i need. I will take pictures of some of the cars if their are any good ones and post them for you guys to see. No telling how many people will show up.. I mean its not like this thing was advertised very well at all lol. BTW I had a quick question, This car is going to be my driver when I get it driveable. I am wanting to put a lift off hood on it. I was just curious do any of you guys know if one guy can get the hood up by himself? Or if that is a two man job?
