Finally making some progress

Just ordered myself a new sending unit and lick ring for my 73 dart sport. Started scrubbing and soaking the tank in purple power. It's cleaning up pretty good, which is good because a new one is $400.00 lol. The parts should be here in 3-5 days. I couldn't get a new filler neck grommet, which sucks because mine is pretty dry rotted. I'm gonna find a universal that works, or just get some silicone and doctor up my old one lol. Hopefully, with any luck, she'll be running next weekish.

Thank you very much! I ordered up a grommet and some replacement studs that I cut off when I removed the tank. I found a brand new tank in my area for 120$, which is awesome. Bob, you seem to be pretty experienced. On top of my old tank there were felt pads, will I have to replace those on my new tank?

I would... it helps keep the the mounting bands and body from wearing a hole in the tank. Just use the old one if there still in ok shape.

There are several "joints" that market replacement tank gromments and other "repop" parts. But are you sure? a tank? is 400 bucks? You might want to look around a bit before you spring for that. I'd bet around 200 is closer to the mark.
