finding a 727
I'm some what confused on finding a 727 transmission for my 383,
ive been going to towing yards and all im finding are small block vans but they have 727s in them, would a 727 off of a 360 or 340 fit the 383?
and just to confirm do all big blocks have the distributor in the front?
also if there is a difference between small block and big block 727's whats the specs on the big block bell housing because i found one with out an engine
the top 2 bolts measured 8 1/2 apart from each other

no a 273. 318,340,360 will not fit a bigblock, and yes all BB have the dist' in the front,. i do not know the measurements. all my stuff is 60 miles away or i would measure for you, shouldnt be hard to measure from a van thru the dog house.
