Floor shifter

Good morning,

I have a 71 Barracuda convertible. It has a column shifter and I want to change it to a floor shifter. I am having a problem finding parts. I found the console on ebay but it is for a stick, my car is a automatic. Are they interchangeable? Any suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Valerie

The console is the same, just the top plate is different. You will need a new column, a floor shifter, a floor hump, linkage. You also will need new carpets to do it correctly. The floor hump will not fit under you current carpet. Good modification, significant amount of work but is nice when done.

Gents -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't one of the aftermarket shifter like one of the B&Ms solve the problem? My old Hurst Auto-stick did
