Found a car, need some advice
I found a 1965 sport fury, 318 wide block, 2 owner, from the pics it looks to be in really good shape, elderly man owned. 86,000 miles. According to the owner the engine runs great, and the transmission shift without any issues. I was wondering what should I look for when i go to look at the car. Any trouble spots? What is the car worth if its in decent shape with no rust or engine issues? Here are some pics from the ad.
Thanks for your time!!

Well, I am just starting into my 65 Fury III. Looks mostly like that one just doesn't have the sport package. I would check the normal stuff, floors, frame etc. One thing I missed on mine when looking at it was the trunk pan. My car is mostly rust free, but in the corners of the rear glass it has rusted through a bit, causing the trunk pan to rust though in a few spots. It isn't terrible but might be something to watch for.
Also I have found over the past month or so that certain parts for these can be hard to come by, and pricey when you do find it. A lot of the stuff on the 65's is one year only parts. The 66's look similar but a lot of the stuff will not fit. (trust me I found this out the hard way, lol)
I should also add that I am still new to Mopars, and car restoration. So someone else here probably has better info. Just sharing what I have learned in my short time with the car. You might ask around on a few of the C Body specific sites too.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, I didn't know that the 65 was a 1 year only kind of car! Yours looks pretty good! Also this car has the 318 wide block ... is this a good engine? Parts hard to find?

Look inside your fender skirts rust will show there and the lip of your rear wheelwells which is what happen to mine also check your subframes. As far as parts go you have Classic industries which does Mopars along with Year one, Layson doesn't have a good rep and is slow on delivery from what i have heard he has a lot of hard to find parts. Stock engine parts for a poly can be found if looked for in forums and Craigslist, swap meets.

I haven't really messed with the motor in mine yet, but it does have the poly 318. From what I have seen parts are still available if you look around a bit. Performance parts are kinda hard to come by as not many were made for this motor, but some are available. This guy wrote a pretty detailed article on how he built one, I think he got around 400 HP out of it. Here is the link:

I have fun with mine driving it around. It isn't a crazy fast muscle car or anything but it has more than enough power to get me where I need to go.

The 65 Fury is a two year body style. The 66 is the same car except the obvious changes such as grill and tail lights and other cosmetic differences. The only mechanical change is the the K frame on a 66 can be unbolted where as a 65 is welded on. Things to consider on that car, is that it is the last of the cable shift transmissions. You cannot buy new brake drums for the back brakes. They do not make them. You can still get new drums for the front. Check the roll pins in the door hinge rollers. When they get weak from rust you end up losing the roller and your door won't stay open. The roller (if your lucky) falls down into the front fender where it bolts to the underside of the car just in front of the door gap. The verticle chrome pieces at the very front leading edge of the front fenders take all the abuse and almost always are dinged up. They do not make repros of them, so don't throw yours away. You'll need to ding them out the best you can untill you find decent used ones. Don't give away or toss your old stock factory rims! They are 5.5 in width and are always in demand.
