fuel sending unit

Do I have to remove the gas tank to remove the fuel sending unit on a 68 barracuda?

also , when you remove the old and install the new , make sure that you carefully r&r them as you have to twist the unit as you go. straight up then straight down towards back of tank, so that the unit almost touches the tank then straight up. on removal, then on install just reverse, or you can bend the float or neck, and mess up the reading your gauge will get.
