Handbrake Cable Help?

I'm putting handbrake on my 70 Challenger.

Handbrake cable is too LONG (The section that runs from the handbrake to the 2 way splitter)

I can not divert it with a plate that's attached to the floor pan, the handbrake is just too long. The only thing that I can think of is to CUT it, but if I cut it I would need to clamp it at the end, which I don't know how I can do this.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Do you mean foot operated parking brake? I have the Year one catalog here and it has the actual lengths listed if that helps

It's a foot operated parking brake, I bought it from Year One. Right part but cable too long. Bought it as a Kit (3 cables) for 70-71 Challenger.
Another thing, they put the small springs on the wrong side of the cables. So I'm not surprised that it's too long. It's only (estimated) 12 inches too long.

I have custom hook that I created (I can move anywhere I want, but still it's too long.
