HOT-ROD with a CROSSRAM ?
I cant recall ever seeing a hot rod with an exposed engine with a crossram intake . It seems to me it would be a pretty impressive sight. Or how about some old Mopar coupe with a hood and the carbs sticking out the sides ? centainly more impressive than a couple of Strombergs, no ?
Has anyone got one ? Seen one ?

Are you referring to the cross rams that used to stick out over the fenders?
Yes, I have seen them on Hot-Rods. I've seen both the short and long versions. But, they are still very cool to see and not at all common.

long rams on a 32 ford 5 window
I am in the process of building a Hot rod with a long ram engine. I have the manifolds and am undecided which engine to use.I welcome all suggestions but the long rams must be used.
Thanks,

As I recall on the engines that employed the long rams a special exhaust manifold was used with a single bolt hold to help support the intake manifold.
if you dont get these exh manifolds you can just fab some kind of braket.

Unfortunatley I have no photo but I remember seeing a trike with a 413 cross ram, at a car show back in the early eighties. Very cool but I wouldn't want to ride it. Nice rods here so far.

Cross rams look really cool and probably generate a lot of torque. The only time I bet you'd regret having that setup is if you had a leaky valve cover gasket to change.

I wonder how they run though on a hot rod. They run great when covered since they can heat up. But with air constantly hitting them, especially in a 50 degree day, will they ever heat up to a point that is suitable for the engine?
