I'm still alive!! And got myself a new one! 68 Coronet R/T 440 4 speed Dana 60!!

Hey guys! I'm back! lol. Been a long while I know. Just been workin sleeping and workin some more here lately. But I think the last thing you guys heard of me was that I had just gotten a 68 Coronet 440. I spent a lot of time workin on it and had it to where it just needed some brakes and just needed to go through the engine before I had it on the road. Had all the rust taken care of. Had brand new wheels and tires. Had eveything to clone it to an R/T. Well with a stroke of bad luck I was unable to keep it where I was working on it at and had to sell it . I ended up getting 4k out of it a long with the wheels and tires and the 440 i had bought for it. Which wasnt bad I actually profitted a few hundred. But I spent the last few weeks looking really hard. I ended up finding my dream car! It was located in Norwalk, Ohio. A 68 Coronet R/T 440 4 speed dana 3.54 car! He wanted 11900 for it. I ended up traveling 971 miles. And picking the car up for 8500 after some haggling lol. I dont think I could have gotten a better deal. Its a real deal WS23 car. Original 440 4 speed car. I dont know yet if it is an actual dana car or not. The motor and rear end are not matching numbers. But the 440 is a date correct 68 hp motor. I have not determined if the 4 speed is matching numbers or not yet. I am trying to figure out if the fender tag is correct. If it is it would tell me everything I need to know. 68's are not like 69 and up where the bottom line of the tag is the VIN. I dont know how to tell if the fender tag matches the car on a 68. (any advice here would be very much appreciated. I would love to find out it is correct and find out exactly what the car came with and looked like) The fender tag decodes to a 68 r/t 440 4 speed dana car. The tranny hump doesnt appear to have had the 4 speed hump welded on, it appears to be factory along with the clutch pedal and the conosle brackets. It has the Ralley cluster with the tic toc tach! It has had a pistol grip shifter put on it which I'm pretty sure isnt original for 68. If I remember right the pistol grip didnt come til 69. As far as problems with the car. It has some cancer on both quarters in front of and behind the wheels. I will need to get ahold of a front passenger fender for it as the one thats on it has been hit before and a trunk lid. Other than that its in excellent shape. It looks brand new under the hood. The motor looks like it was rebuilt yesterday! and it runs like it too! Didnt have 1 problem with the engine all the way from Norwalk, Ohio to Sapulpa, Oklahoma! 971 miles. And again if anyone can tell me how to tell if a fender tag on a 68 is the matching one for the car I would very much appreciate it!

I will be looking for a set of 68 bucket seats. So if you have some i'd be interested. Not sure what the ones in this one came out of. But if you know plz tell me. I am thinking they are mopar, but not sure. They look pretty close to 71 charger seats.

Thank you! They are my favorite. I'm still in shock that I actually got it. I've wanted a 68 R/T for a very long time! And a 4 speed makes it that much better!

Thank you. As long as I have been lookin at these cars.. not just since I sold my Coronet 440.. but the years of searching. I have to agree, r/t's are really tough to come by as projects at all. And running and driving with so little rust. I think I did really good. I'm figuring I will have it ready for paint and still have less than 10k in it. When all said and done I'm figuring on having less than 12k in it. Keep in mind i'm not gonna strip it down and do a rotisserie resto on it or nothing like that. I'm planning on making it an extremely nice driver, I'm just not into the whole trailer queen thing. I cant have a car like this and not drive it lol. And thanks for the compliments guys.
