Imperial rear end

Imperial rear end
I have two questions; what body style is a Chrysler Imperial, and will the rear end (8 3/4) from it fit in my 77 Cordoba?
I looked at the chart and assume that it is too narrow, no matter what body type, but figured I would check anyways.

The guy who has them measured them from "axle face to face is 61" " so the chart doesn't show that so I sent him the chart.
I have been thinking the 9 1/4 should be the easiest to deal with fit wise, so I am going to see if I can find one.

The best way that I have been able to find out if an axle will fit, minus asking those who have already done the swap, is to take meassurements. For instance, the leaf spring pad width, the wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface, the amount of space between the leaf spring pad and backing plate, the amount of space between the wheel mount surface and leaf spring pad.
When I was installing a chevy FF 14B in my AMC jeep j10, I knew that it would not just bolt right in. I even thought that it wouldn't fit after I moved the springs from post mount to under the frame. I just happen to get lucky though. If it did not fit then I would just have cut and welded on new leaf spring pads (perches).
You can always do that with that 8 3/4 rear axle... As long as it it wide enough to fit under your car without having the tires rub. You may need to get a different set of wheels with different backspacing just for that reason.
