Interchangeable parts

Most external parts will interchange, bit will they perform well??? No.The 318 has different heads/ intake/exhaust etc. they will work on the 340 but not too well. From the timing chain forward is all the same parts. What are you looking to do here?

as you may remember, awhile back i couldnt decide whether to pick up a '71 Duster w/ 340 and a 4 speed or a '71 Demon w/ Rallye dash and 340. Well I got the Demon, which has a 318 in it and the numbers matching 340 was also given to me, problem is the 340 is missing heads, so i was wondering whether or not i could transplant the heads from the 318

I would look for a set of 360 heads, if you can't find 340 heads ( or by the MP aluminum heads
) It would do you MUCH better in the long run than using 318 heads. But, yes they will work.

first of all, congrats on the Demon, you all know hoe much I like them. second, congrats on deciding to go back to #s matching, those are the coolest cars in my opinion, and 3rd, if you can't afford MP alum. heads, look for some 360 heads.
