Talking Landed my intake

YAY!

Landed an original Max Wedge intake, non-original carbs (but serials are sequential) and linkage.

Scratch that off the parts list for my Max Wedge.

Hee hee hee the b/f cringed at the price. but I am pretty damn excited. real damn excited.

Hell yeah. Pretty stoked (and a little more broke now too), but WTH. If I am ever going to build this Max Wedge, now is the time.

Gotta arrange pickup on my intake, it's about three hours south in my old stomping grounds. I'm real tempted to drive down tomorrow night, despite shyte weather and traffic.

Next big hurdle is to get Mancini Racing and my shop talking so we can all agree on the build. I want the repro MP cast irons heads (sorry Dead) on this one too.

i could pen something up, but it would turn "race-y" real fast!

Hey, that bf had better read some of the last threads and the response he would get from some of us if he doesn't change that attitude!!!!!

LOL. Oh he can cringe all he wants, it's my money. Besides, he's got a guitar and motorcycle addiction. We just shake our heads at one another. And remember, he DID buy me the long block for my birthday!

re pro max wedge heads

there seems 2 be 3 to choose from p4529996 , p4529997 , p5249824 . i would go p52249824 my self although you can't use them for super stock racing or stock racing . they all have closed chambers so you may need to use dish topped pistons to keep compression under 10:1 . or low comp pistons . the 996 & 997 use 2.08in / 1.88ex valves & the 824 use 2.14 & 1.81 the more common choice . & there bare heads . I'd recommend having them bowl blended / bowl ported . very easy to do . but will make very good improvements over the whole rev range or should i say lift range . basically even the mopar big block book is recommending pocket porting . it's so worth it . your running 1300 cfm of carb don't choke it at the bowls & get good reduced shank valves that have been back cut ( no ski jump on the back of the valve head , all good ones will have this done ) well there's my 2 cents worth . well enjoy you will be over the moon with this combo . are you running a 727 or manual ??? tyre smoking fun .

In the last couple years, MP retooled the Max Wedge cast iron heads, with alot of the push coming from racers; David Hakim (formerly of MP and now of Mancini Racing) helped push those changes through. The result? These heads flow alot better than ANY of the old original or repro MP heads.

Got my eye on a set of worked original heads, and I will run them by David for input. Otherwise, going with the MP p/n P5249824. Those are listed as Cast Iron, 2.14" intake, 1.81" exhaust, 1962-1964 Max Wedge, Stage III.

As for trans, I haven't decided yet. My car has a gay B&M Starshifter which I loathe (can you tell?) and a SB 727. So either way, a new trans is on the horizon. Sourcing a 4 speed is harder out here than an BB 727 though. Since my floorpan has already been cut, I can go either way. My car has buckets, no console. Personally I think a console is pretty sexy, but if some *** put their GD feet on it I would choke the crap out of them...they break so easily. Anyway, thinking about going with a 727 and an old-style Hurst shifter. Car was originally three on the tree and I do have the original pedal and part of the linkage though.

He almost landed me a complete 4 speed with linkage for Xmas but it didn't work out. So he got me a huge bass amp and an electric bass for xmas, since I have two uprights and am learning to play.
