MSD?

Looking to upgrade ignition system on 69 Charger from older Mopar electronic with distributor issues to MSD. Looking at new 6al2 programmable. I'm sure it will be a little overkill for my 383 h code street, driver, not racing application, but would be pretty good to hookup to laptop and see what's firing when. I would think. Anyone have any experience with new units or other recommendations? Thanks..

Nobody yet?

I know they're new but I figured someone would have dove into one of those boxes by now.

I should have also mentioned getting new coil and distributor too.

I just ran the Mopar orange box with a Mopar distributor in my Fury and it ran clean as can be. I have no experience with the MSD stuff, but I can tell you that any electronic ignition beats points all day long.

No question on the electronic ignition. Definitely using that! I have that now but not sure how it's working. I know the rotor on the distributor has a ton of side to side movement and trying to time is nearly impossible because jumping all over the place. I am still learning this car and don't know how old stuff is and how well it worked before.. So.... But I hate to go with something new like the 6al2 programmable without really knowing how it is and how well it works. But taxes will be back soon! If I don't like it I should be able to come close to getting most of my money back. We will see.. Thanks for the input!

You can use a stock electronic distributor with that to save bucks pick one up for around $25-$40 easy to rebuild if needed.
