Mustang :(
Today my step dad asked if he brought home a 68 mustang if I would help on the rebuild.
I was excessively turned off.
Long story short any way.
I probably have to rebuild a mustang...
Couldn't convince him to pick up a Chrysler product for the life of me.
Sorry just looking for sympathy cause I honestly hate mustangs.
WHY ME!?!?!

I know some people are more die hard than others, but some Mustangs are cool, so don't feel too bad. My 13 year old step daughter and I are restoring a 56 Hudson Hornet, and she wants a 64.5 to 69 Mustang when she is old enough to drive. I have been showing her Darts and Scamps, but so far no luck.

I had to help my bud fix up his '67 mustang last year. 347 stroker, 9 inch and beefed up C-4. It turned out better than I thought, probably cuase I didnt give a crap. Strange how things work like that. BTW, he's 68 years old. I call him the world's oldest teenager.
Also, seems like the young kids really liked my '64 Dart gt. I don't know why. Of all the old mopars I have had, the young people liked that Dart. I guess cause it was soo strange looking to them. One bothered me enough that I ended up selling the car to his parents so he could drive it when he got his liscense.
On the 67 mustang. make sure that the A-arm mount isn't starting to seperate from the spring tower. A common problem with the old stangs. Problem can be fixed. Google carcraft.com 67 mustang. They show the fix.

You know you can help, yet be victorious by implementing a chrysler based ford engine, 429 BOSS anyone??? Yeah they only made them for 69 and 70, but you're a liar if you say you wouldnt want to pop the hood and see this...a liar

MOPAR OR NO CAR PEOPLE!!!! MOPAR OR NO CAR!!!!
Just think about it this way. You can practice on the F$*d and if you mess up it doesn't matter, you'll know what not to do when you start working on a Mopar.

i know i am going to be hated for this but i love fords. always have. but i also hate Chevy/GM anything, pieces O' S**t.
honestly, i previously hated Mopar. well the new ones anyway. i always loved the old ones, but the 90-present is like a stab in the heart. i hated pretty much everything but ford. but mopar was always a step above GM.
but now mopar is way up there. sadly it cant beat ford in my heart. sorry guys.

And THAT is why step-dads have the bad reputation they have. He didn't "touch" you too, did he? As far a Looking for sympathy, you can find it in the dictionary. It's between "****" and "SYPHILIS".

We went to look at the mustang today.
Wow thing is a hunk of ****. Like I've seen cars that were far gone.
But there isn't much there so he's back looking at other cars.
PHEW!

Went through a bunch of Mustangs in the mid 70's....they were all 65 and 66's with two of them being Fastbacks. The FB's were cool but after a couple of years of breakage, I went back to Mopar. Man, I can break just about anything but when a 289 pulls the pinion right out of the case, something ain't right lol

Forgive me all, but I'm going to go there.......
It shouldn't matter what kind of car it is! The fact that your 'step dad' has asked you to be a part of a project, shows that he wants to do the bonding thing. You should be grateful that you have a step dad that likes cars and likes you enough to want to bond with you!!! You may find a real friend!
What part of Northern California are you in, sgnrulz? I'm also in No. Cali.

Try not to hate too much on the mustang guys. Its sill an iconic muscle car and deserves respect. Some people like ford, others like chevy, as long as its a real muscle car its OK in my book. Honestly if I had the money I would buy a 68 fastback and paint it green, like Steve McQueen.

I don't hate any of the old muscle cars....just hate the ones that break a lot. I'm pretty hard on cars and only the strong survive me lol. Sure, they all are going to break at some point but when dumb stuff breaks, it chaps my butt. Heck, the dang pedal rack came apart in one of my Mustangs......try stopping with the pedals cocked over half sideways (4 speed car). Fixed it with 'genuine' Ford parts and I be damned if it didn't happen again a few months later.

Yep. I agree. I like all sorts of cars. We obviously sling dirt at other makes, but deep down in our mopar hearts, you'll be a lair if you say you ddin't like another sort of car thats NOT a mopar.
My buddy owns a 64 Fairlane. 289 hi-po, chevy valves, ran the best of high 14s. Not FAST, but it's a VERY VERY nice car. Rans like a champ really. Cool car IMO
Whatever car he gets, just work on it. At the end of the day, its another MUSCLE CAR.
I took the picture.

I used to be more of a fanboy, but, believe or not, a car is pretty much a car. Some are better than others, but they all have 4 wheels and an engine. Arguing over the differing points between car manufacturers is more pointless than arguing the differing points between religions, but people spend a great deal of time doing it nonetheless.
I have always liked Mopar cars, but I have owned others makes as well. My last car was actually a brand new 2006 Pontiac GTO. I almost bought a Mustang, but the '06 GTO was a faster car, and I got if for less than a new Mustang GT.
Back in the day I had a few Mustangs. My first was a '70 Mach 1 with a 351C 4bbl engine, and a 4 speed trans. My next was a '72 boat which I bought cheap for a friend. Then I got a '66 GT, and then an '88 highway patrol car. There is nothing wrong with Mustangs.
I've also had other cars, like a '68 GTO, a big block El Camino, and even an other Porsche spider. Cars are cars, but cars are fun to me, and I like all of them in a way,
except for Kias.

I've owned about 30 cars over the years. My first was a 70 Torino GT with 351 cleveland. After I got beat in several races my older brother found me a 71 Challenger R/T, and he was a huge Ford guy! I've owned 69 Camaro, 67 Firebird 400, 67 Chevelle 327, several British cars and many Mopars. I also worked in a garage for many years seeing all kinds of stuff needing repairs. I can remember going on about all the Chevies I was having to work on with the same stupid problems when my manager pulled me aside and said "you need to quit bitching about working on all these Chevies, these cars are our bread and butter". How true a statement that was! I've never owned anything made by GM since. For me it's come down to having an understanding of what the engineers were trying to do on any particular model. Mopars from the mid 70's and earlier have always rang true to me personally. And if anyone thinks they're all just cars, they should try to do a simple oil change on a mid 80's front drive GM anything!!!

I'm not a car bigot i have had at least one of every brand including ricers some were junk others were great. I like all classics some i would not own but i will look at them anyway there are many cars i don't care for the body style including some mopars but i won't knock them. In this hobby it's different strokes for different folks.
