i seriously need help i have a '91 dodge daytona it has a V6 SOHC engine in it now but that has almost 200,000 miles on it...so i am just trying to figure out what engine i could put in there that would not need any body remolding well basically that just wouldnt cost too much to do the swap

okay i see what you want... you want this to be your first race car...well i would forget the 6. (V6) just because that its FRW drive and your half shafts cant handle 400 horse. and if you really want it to be a race car build a V8 and hack the car up. with the right engine even a small block. you can get 9's in the 1/4 mile but it will cost you. i read your pm. and thank you

Hi daytona, You can use a 3.0 ltr. v-6 from any dodge 88- 93. theyre a dual o.h.c. setup . they arent super fast but you can get performance parts for them. they use the same trans to bell pattern. you only need to change the oil pan to the 1 you have on your tona. most of the 3.0`s in that time froma made around 190 horse. the newer the motor also the bigger the throttle bodies gona be. Im pretty sure.

yea the current engine is nice and i could have it rebuilt easily but they make no after market parts for the 12V SOHC engine and the valves are known to bend or even break under alot of pressure and stress aftermarket parts have been put on it. but i am still considering that. i love the way the 12V sounds like a small V8 but is there anyway i could put the top end of the DOHC onto the bottom end of my current engine?...like i said all advice is helpful and thank you all

as far as swapping heads im sure you cant and with the aftermarket parts i would check e-bay first as they have alot of stuff on there for your engine and when you bend a valve it is usually do to the timing belt skipping or breaking so i recomend changing it every 60,000 miles and you should never have to worry about them getting slaped by the pistons . also try not to miss a gear as that can sometimes let them touch also do to the short throw on the valves with the stubby lifters ,.,.,. I would just rebuild the one you have and enjoy it for another 200,000 thousand miles, if you have any questions just ask and o ya when you change out your timing belt always be sure to change out the water pump !!!!! ok

thank you i have plenty of time as i still have to draw money out of my CD and that can actually take up to a month lol. But i was lookin at the SOHC and DOHC application on the same year stealth as my daytona and everything on the stealths is in exactly the same place on both the SOHC and DOHC versions and they both have the same locations for the battery, trans fluid, intake, and many other things as my daytona does...but thank you so much hope to talk to ya soon

YOU CAN NOT put a 6g72 in your daytona the 6g is a mitsubishi engine and will not bolt up to your trans that is why i told you to check out them sites , unless your sov engine says mitsubishi on it it will not work so if you want an enginge to put in then rebuild the one you have or call a car yard and get another one the same and put in there or ask them to cross ref: it for you as they should have the books to tell you ( all ohc engines slap valves to pistons if your timing belt looses a tooth as they are >0< clearance engines
What does your engine say on the motor does it say MITSUBISHI or not , i do not have a book on the daytona so you will have to tell us some #s that are on your engine if you want
