Need some input from EVERYONE new and old
I talked to some of the other mods about starting up a profile for Mopar Forums on Facebook. I belong to a local 4x4 forum and they started one up. I thought that it would be a great way to get more people here that have some same love for mopars as we all do.
I know that some people are going to be worried about a lot more spam than what we have now, but I feel confident that we can handle it. With the help of you guys and gals, we have been able to keep this place extremely clean of spam.
I want EVERYONE'S input about this. Whether you have been here for years (that goes for you too 1BM) or just signed up today, please vote and give us your opinion. I will keep the poll open til the end of june and then go from there whether or not we start up a Facebook profile.
If any of you guys and gals are on Facebook, look me up.

I can honestly tell ya I am not into the Crackbook, will I have to be a part of Crackbook Tim ? Are we just trying to promote the site, I guess I just need more info if I could. Thx.
I voted NO for now. I am just anti-crackbook.

I am trying to get our forum out there for more people to see and know about. You don't have to join Facebook at all. You do if you want to join the group which is nothing more than an ad, so to say. Places like Facebook and Myspace have thousands opon thousands of groups for just about anything and everything out there. Heck, I became a "fan" of one group called "I like picking my nose".
Like I said, it's just and idea to get our forum out there and known/heard so that we can keep having more people join here and talk about mopars, ask questions, give advice, show off cars, show off projects, etc.

I'm all for it, BUT, the Devil is in the details. I always encourage serious enthusiasts. You might end up spending alot of time monitoring and banning the bashers and spoilers.[dont know what the web term is for them]. Just take a look at yahoo answers and see how many folks go to the dodge and chry sites just to say they suck.

I'm not sure what this site is making for money if any with the ads. That is something I can talk about with 1BM though.
I realize that we will get more spammers and whatnot here, and if that is the case, then I will delete the account.

i think a filter that holds the posts for approval for newly registered posters will work. it does limit the dire question from new people but as the forum builds, most of the answers are already there for reading if they search.
most spammers will not go through the trouble of registering because there are so many other places they can spam in the time it takes to get verified.
and at the facebeek pride i'd suggest you not offend those s.o.b. (some other brand) car owners. subtle sites draw less spammers.

Many of you know me from Crazy4Carz.Com I had someone set me up a face book page and the spam has been enormous. (some of it is not bad **** [wink]) But is is a pain in the asp keeping it off. I don't know what the count is here as far as hits, but our number of hits is past 10,000 per month and we also promote events. The events section was the primary reason for our site. Once you open pandoras box it is hard to close. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it....
Keep up the good work.

heres another thing - right now, what is the percentage of people registering that stay and participate? seems most register with crap they are trying to sell or a question they need answered and thats it - they're gone...

We see the same thing but always be friendly and helpful and be sure they know they are welcome all the time. Often, people will be lurking in the shadows, reading posts, questions, answers and never actually posting themselves. To those hiding in the shadows, not posting, don't be shy, Post often.

I've tried to stay away from the social disease that is social networking. I think I DO have a facebook account, because a friend started one and sent me a link to his pictures...no account, no pictures
Anyway...I think we decided against all that flap over at my other forum, but it might do well over here. I'm pretty on the fence on this one, sorry...
