Question Noise with oil leaking near fuel tank

Hello All I am new here so please be Gentle, I have a 2008 Ram 1500 2WD.There is a sound like a tire is going bad, a little wap wap noise. I just replaced the tires but the noise is still there. I have a little oil dripping from the rear of the fuel tank. I did not see any fresh oil on the rear-end, any suggestions

I'm pretty sure the rear brake line passes over the gas tank, this could be the source of the oil. I don't know about the noise, but if you're leaking brake fluid you'd better get it fixed quick!

The rear differential vent goes up by the gas tank and should have a check valve on the end of it.. If somebody removed it, it might be leaking.. Gear oil has a very musky smell and cant be confused with engine oil...Bill

Have the Diff Checked..... Those Diffs are known to let go if you dont keep after the servicing on them...

I didn't want to be the one to say that but that's what it sounds like to me too.. I've done to many to count.. .Yeah whats up with that anyway Bob??? Back in the day nobody serviced there diffs. now they have synthetic lube and they want them serviced every 15,000 miles.... And if its limited slip you have to add the friction modifier to the equation which cost you even more...It feels like we have gone backwards somehow...Bill

Chrysler started having someone else build the diff's. Long story short... Shyyy
I will say, the testing grounds in Mich. had a stock pile of them blowed Mamma's still around. If I'm not mistaken and my mind services me rite.. They finally went back to "Dana or Spicer" for the cure....

I have serviced all "MY' Diffs with Torco oil / lube... And knock on wood... It has worked for me all these years..
