Made a new profile used facebook for the other one and it loged me out everytime I went to post something.

I wont have a nice car want to buy it for my 10 year old and maybe he will have it running by the time he is 16 and hope he will not trash it since he had to fix it.

I just think 1700 is pricey for what it is rust and all. Unless its because its a cuda.

I really like the 67-69 barracudas (but prefer notch's) I don't think the price is to crazy...normal rust but not bad, the front "hit" bothers me...

Are you footing the bill for this ? If so why Not get one in running condition so that you can enjoy the car shows with your son? Teach him how to work on it ...LOTS of projects are abandoned when they realize how much it is going to cost !!!

Yea i will be footing the bill will not be my first restoration first one was when i was 18 and was a 81 camaro thought it would only cost 2-3k 10k later i was finaly done minus paint and finished interior.

He will earn parts through good grades and chores got 6 years to get it finished. Just need to find the right car

I think its a great idea!
When you're a young dumb kid (no offense, I just mean in general, like I WAS lol)
you don't fully appreciate things until you get older and realize the reality of things.
Having him help put his own blood (hopefully not...), sweat and tears in it will make him realize from the get-go what goes into it....that is, if you can keep him motivated in it...

I plan on doing the same with my kids when they turn 12. I told them they could pick any shell they want, and we'll restore it together. When they're 16 they'll have bad-a$$ rides, (with small engines)...

I say it's worth what you'll pay for it. IMO, $1,700 bucks is a small investment in your kids future. Also, you'll have plenty of time to "snipe" ebay parts cheap, and do the meticulous do it yourself stuff. I'd still try to talk them down.. start with 1200, and you might end up at 1500.

Plus, a new car is a bad investment, depreciate in value immediately. A classic is a good investment, appreciate in value with work and time.

When I consider a vehicle I now know how important glass and chrome are, they can be the hardest to find and most costly. If your not concerned about an original restoration any engine, drivetrain, wiring, interior finish and interior steel can be put together but exterior body panels if needed and not available can be a deciding factor.

Lastly, this is a desireable body style and one of my favourites, which are becoming harder to find. Price of the car...dollars. Having your son like V8's...priceless.
