Pinks All Out
With my new found fascination with drag racing I'm finding myself addicted to this show. However...however... Mopars don't seem to far to well.
Any one have any thoughts on this?
Joe.

Fast + wheelies = rating and entertainment.
Most cars that go in the 9s and 10s are Chevys, and alot of the Fox bodies. They are cheap, and can make alot power to the ground.

I would have to agree that Mopars do not fair well at PINKS. They are expensive motors to build and very few Mopars are at the tracks anymore. I will say that PINKS events are typically slow classes regardless of the make and model. Too many 10 and 11 second cars make the show. We have raced at two PINKS events-St Louis and Topeka knowing that we would never make the show. We run 9.00-9.05 consistently an ET that has a small field of cars. Even though we can stand the front end up it won't help win 10 grand if there's no cars running that ET.

I'm going to have to disagree... I've only seen 1 or 2 11 sec fields and 1 12 sec field. the fields are ALWAYS mid 10s or high 9s. I think there has even been a 8.90 field

You are also right about the number of Mopars you see entered on the show, just guessing but I would say maybe 4:1 in favor of GM products. I guess that could account for a lot.
I did see one show were they picked a 8 second class, but I had limited interest because the big draw of the show for me is the "maybe I could do that" thing, and those cars certainly cost more than the house I live in
10-11 second cars are probably out of my reach but still worth dreaming about. And I would love to do it in a Dodge!!

I have also raced at Pinks All Out in Gainesville a couple years ago. The picked a 11.50 class or something.... I ran 9.70 and I think we has 12 cars in the 70's but no more. The problem for Mopars is a numbers thing.. As someone said in an earlier post. Two to three times more Chebbies and even most of the time more Furds.... For an example take the NHRA Finals in Pomona this weekend.. In the Sportsman classes of Super Stock, Stock and Super Gas. In SS 77 cars made first round of eliminations and there were only 13 Mopars... In Stock Eliminator there were 88 cars and only 24 Mopars... In S/G no Mopars were left after round one.... Why?? Just as previously mentioned... COST...... A racing Mopar engine will be 40% to 50% higher than a Chebby... Heck I once heard that 350 Chebby motors grew wild in fields.. Just go out a pick one!!!! But to a dyed in the wool Mopar man it doesn't matter..... We are unique people that most of the time march to a different drummer. We go out own way and don't want to be just another cookie cutter Chebby 350 or ?????? I do believe in Mopar or NoCar...... That is why I race a Plymouth and hopefully in the near future and Dodge....... Mack

I dont even watch those shows anymore, because of the mopar bias attitude. A few years ago, I was watching hot rod tv on their power block, and the blondehaired guy says, ok we have a new project for you , after many requests, from our viewers, we have a 69 cuda fast back were gonna do some segments on, I watched the show for several weeks after that. and I bet the total number of minutes, far under ran the 80`s body monte ss build they did right before that. So. I dont even bother anymore. to me, its bad enough that they waste my time, but for me to let them do it. thats even worse. I syill love my mopes. I just needed a break for awhile. But, id never break my mother mopars heart, and go brand x, NEVER!!!!!!
