Radial vs. Bias Tires

I'm fixin up a 1969 Coronet and trying to keep it original. I have heard both arguments but I am still not sure. The bias tires come in more options and I feel look much better/more authentic. I was told the radials are much safer, but my only good option is bf goodrich TA. What do you guys think?

Coker offers vintage looking tires in a radial. Both white lettered and red lines and blue lines. It is funny how just by a simple question I can tell a persons age. You have obviously not lived with bias ply tires. If this car is going to be a trailer queen (not driven) show only go ahead with the Bias ply. If you are going to drive the car, get an appropriate looking bias ply tire. You'll thank me later.

hes right. I have bi plys omn my a-12s . they suck. they look great. but you feel every bump in the road, and the rides stiff. diamond back radials makes great repop loking tires in many sizes. Im putting a set on both my cars, I drive mine. heh heh heh

BFG is a good tire company, Coker does have some pretty sweet looking tires that are radials too. I would stick away from Bias ply tires unless you plan on four wheeling the car.

thanks guys. I keep going back to the bias look in a tire but here over and over again to get a good radial with bias look. I drive my cars, so radials it is. I was told red lined tires are period correct for 1969 and raised letter tires did not come around until early 70s. I know I am splitting hairs but what is your opinion? This really helps me in my decision making.

Its your car, you do with it what you want. If you want to keep it original, then go with the red line. I personally like the look of an all black sidewall.

Agreed, and redlines only look good on certain color cars with certain wheels.

They look really good on your ride. I think I'll go with them.

we are not far from each other. Are there any decent car shows this spring we can meet up at?
