RPM question
RPM question
So when I have the car in gear and left foot on the brake I can press the gas pedal all the way down and only goes to about 2200 RPMs, she will almost chirp them, and my gas pedal is all the way down to the floor..is that normal or do I need to adjust the carb linkage?
So the other question I have guys is if I have the car in Park and just floor it it will get up their to 5K+ RPMs or so it just when I have the transmision in drive that it will only get up to 2200 or so rpm.....is their a resone for that?
With the engine off... Open the choke plate all the way ... Have some set on the gas pedal all the way to the floor while you look down into the carb. your looking to see if the plate open all the way vertical... If they, that's good and we move on...
If not, back about 6-7" the cable attaches to a bracket.. us a 7/16 wrench unloosen the nut just a turn or so... Pull the cable back toward the firewall till you just see the throttle lever move on the carb. Stop and then go back the other way about 1/4" and tighten the nut and recheck as described above...
Then we can move on if that dont fix it...

Ok... So we have chatted a little off to the side for you folks that are kind of following... Throttle opens about 80%. Thats good enough to go for me at this point.
Sooooo... That means the motor will only pull to 2200-RPM in the stall... Thats good if that is what the stall is for the converter?
"Almost Chirp the tires".... Thats a fat lady your driving there buddy... It dont chirp till the fat lady sings... Let me tell you !!!!!!\
Will help you get it sorted out....

Their is a place in Casper Wy where I was told that they do good work, as a matter of fact one of his cars was on Street Outlaws show.... But I was told they are not cheap...I wonder if my boy would mind skipping college one semester so I can get the fat lady to sing?
the truth is I would like to just have a good strong tire burning motor, and I called the place in Casper an he said for 5K we can make that fat Lady run fast and strong...so iam going to wait for so more
and have them swap out the rear end as well....

Both will slow your ride down IMO.
