Stalled

I was going to test drive my 65 coronet down the road today when I was pulling out of the driveway and the car stalled and wont start again. I pulled a plug and it was wet. Could the plugs have fouled out because their the old plugs from when I had the bad carb in and flooded it real bad. help please

I would pull all the plugs and dry them out. Measure the gap while you are at it.

Because it was already running it sounds like there is something else going on. How long before you last drove the car? How old is the gas? What kind of carb?

it has new gas in it. I drove the car last night and it was fine. Now i went out this morning and it started right up and I went like 20ft in my driveway and it stalled. I tried to start it but it wouldnt start. I pulled a plug and it was wet like it wasnt getting spark. Could the plugs just have fould out because their old or could it be something else in the ignition? I put on a new distributor cap and rotor also.

What engine and what carb please?

Is it a 440 with ___________ carburator?

sgp check your choke and make sure its not staying closed and cant remember but do you live where its cold or warm and again i would check to see if your plugs are even fireing and go from there as it could just be a flooding issue from your floats sticking or not set right

No I dont't think one-barrels even existed on that vintage. Maybe in the 1940's!

My suggestion; Take a screwdriver and give it a couple good wacks on both sides and loosen up that float.

No they did not unless our terminologys differ. A Stromberg carb is a one barrel. Flatheads had three Srombergs which made them a three barrel.

Give me an example of a Carter one barrel.

I have a 318 with a carter 2 barrell carb. I checked and its getting spark but the plugs look pretty fouled. Could fouled plugs cause that car to stall then not start?

No not normally! You could just take a bit of emery cloth and clean them up. Regap them and try again to start the car.

What is the idle speed?
