I have put a 360 magnum into a charger with a 727 transmission and it is now running a holley 750 carby with a duel plane manifold. (electric fuel pump) There is no computer anymore. It has extractors fitted to the exhaust. Enlargened and strengthened inlet/exhaust port valves installed in the heads. Apart from that the engine is stock. I want to get a performance cam i can use without having to change everything around it. I want it to sound like its got a cam but not a crazy idle. I am after performance as the motor is not in a truck anymore. The local mechanic suggested the comp cam 20-811-9 but i dont know if it will suit as i know nothing about cams.

What do you want the car to do? The cam is the "brain" of the engine/ If you just pick a cam at random based on what is sounds like you may loose all the driveability of the car. Do you want a "red light to red light" car? Top end car? Cruiser? If you change to a rumpity rumpity cam you will also need a torque converter. Call a cam manufacturer and discuss with them your intentions and they can make a good recommendation based on your info.
