Wanted: Tunnel for 1965 Polara

I was poking around the floor boards trying to see where I needed to patch or replace and found a weak spot on the tunnel, if I could get the whole thing that would be best or I'll have to patch that in too.... Thanks

Thanks Polaradude, I did look real quick at their site but will send them an e-mail. I did find a Polara that looks like it would be a good donor at Desert Valley Auto in Arizona but they tend to be a little expensive so I'll try Texasacres first.....

EDIT: e-mail sent - thanks again....

Just to let you all know, I ordered and paid for the tunnel a week ago yesterday (July 2nd and today is July 8th), from Texas acres, he had told me it was already cut out of the car, so when I don't hear a thing from them I sent an e-mail yesterday asking for shipment info and finally get an e-mail from him this evening telling me that it will ship Thursday - I'm hoping he means this Thursday (tomorrow), and not next Thursday!!!! I have not seen the part so I hope I don't get screwed there (they claim rust free parts - hopefully that means straight too), but I'm really not happy with their speed of shipping as well as their communication (or lack there of!)...... I don't think I will be doing business with them again, at least not if I can help it!

I haven't heard a word, kinda pissed but I'm leaving for a two week TDY this Sunday so I'm not going to stress about it right now, if it's not here when I get back then I'll deal with it then. I know that I will do all I can to not have to do business with him again! I'm glad they make all new sheet metal for my Charger, at least I wont have to worry about dealing with them on that...

Yep I am on my TDY and haven't heard a thing, I'm sure the wifey would have said something if it had gotten there. So it's been two weeks since I bought it and haven't heard a thing from them that I hadn't pulled out of them, not a good way to do business if you ask me!

Maybe we should start two threads, or maybe a whole new section on this.

Really.

One about companies we have had good experiences with when purchasing new, used or modified parts for our vehicles.

The lengthier one will probably cover all these dirty birds that scam people and just can't get it right.

Thoughts?

Where ya TDY to Silva? Anywhere good?? It's usually not!

The wifey told me last night that there's a very large box sitting in our car port so I'm guessing that's the tunnel, two weeks and one day after I ordered it. Not happy at all with their speed of shipping or their communication. I have not seen the part so I'm a little nervous about that, hopefully I don't get screwed and it is "rust free".... I'll be sure to let you all know...

Well, I hope that despite the poor communication and excellent shipping times, the part is as described! You finally deserve an honest seller!

Keep us posted please.

I guess the thing to keep in mind here is that they are a scrap yard for the most part. They don't operate like Summit or jegs etc. Sometimes a little patients isn't a bad thing.

I totally understand, but it wouldn't have killed them to email or call him with the shipping info. I really like it when a merchant emails me the tracking information, then I don't need to bother them anymore, and its all in UPS/USPS respective hands to deliver.

In this day and age of internet resources, buyers now have an immense marketplace and it would behoove a merchant (of any type) to remember that. Also that a happy customer will tell about ten people and an unhappy one will tell everyone they know...

Plus, car folks are a small world and word travels fast. I'll take a recommendation, or a warning, over some shiny slick advert in a magazine anyday.

I agree to a point. I have ordered stuff from them all the way up here in Canada, took a little longer than I thought but I got it and it was in better condition then I thought. I find a lot of people have the drive through window syndrome. They want it yesterday, which I understand. I guess all I am saying is I have used them with no complaints, If I had reservations about the company I wouldn't have suggested them. The boys even put birthday gift on the box so I wouldn't have to pay import duty, good guys.

~chuckles~ nice....

Oh, you know we all want it NOW...when it comes to car parts...LOL. I save up the , order my parts if I can't get it locally and then sulk until I get them. When they arrive, I disappear with them like a packrat. Dinner? What's that? One-track mind, I guess...

Polaradude, the guy, Ron, was a total *** in subsequent e-mails (I will post that later in another thread I plan to make giving all a warning NOT to buy from this place),. I get home from my TDY last night and am all excited to open the package to start working on my car again only to find that they have shipped the WRONG tunnel. I'm not sure what tunnel it's for (kinda looks like a late 60's B body tunnel), but it certainly does not look even close to my 65 C body), I am none too happy and will NEVER do business with them again and like Morrigan said, I will tell all I can. I have membership in 4 MOPAR forums and you can bet I will post in all of them my experience with texas acers.

So now I am out $171 and have a tunnel that is not what I ordered and had to almost pull teeth to get it, again like Morrigan said all they would of had to do was send me an e-mail letting me know what's going on, instead I was kept in the dark and when I asked if it had shipped he seemed to be put out by that. As I was saying, I have a tunnel that does not fit my car, yeah I don't need the whole tunnel so I can cut some pieces out and MAKE them work but that is not what I wanted to do. This is messed up and I will NEVER, EVER do business with them again... I have a 69 Charger that is in rough shape but I'll be damned if I will look to them for parts!

Sorry to hear you didn't get what you wanted.

ps: I have e-mailed Ron to see if there is anything I can do for you and to get their side of the story. Perhaps things can be worked out.

I created a thread to show the e-mail traffic as well as pictures of what I finally got and the actual pictures of a 65 Polara tunnel (what I actually need), here's the thread link.

It sounds to me that they are willing to correct the problem

Hi Grant,
I have never delt with this customer before now. He called and ordered a
tunnel and asked if some of the floor could be included. I informed him
they were alresdy cut out at the curved area where the floor and tunnel
meet. He said O.K. and that he would just need to patch the floor up to
it.I said I would be able to send it out by the end of the week. I got
busier than expected and didn't get it shipped as soon as I said. Of course
I didn't think this was much of a problem at the time and it would still
arrive in an acceptable number of days.
He e-mail very upset about the time frame which surprise me because he
said he was not even home to work on it since he was on duty in San
Antonio.I tried to appologize for the delay and explained why it didn't
leave as I first said. He still was not happy just because of what I said I
would do concerning the shipping day. As far as it not being correct I have
not been inform of this till now. I stand behind my parts and it should be
correct. If not I'll send another, but I would need to see pics first.
Tom has been my Web Master since he fist began .I think I was among the
first 3-5 customers he had, plus I have been in business over 20 yrs and
this is th FIRST time I have had a customer I could not please.
I'll forword the e-mails between me and Mr.Silva.

Thankyou

Ron

Here's what I sent to him just now. I am not willing to pay to have it shipped back and am not willing to go out of my way (take time off of work to ship it). I really don't feel that I was out of line with him like he thinks I was, all I wanted was some COMMUNICATION and that he was definitely lacking, I'm not an unreasonable person and have run a business before so I know how things can get backed up at no ones fault, it just happens, but good communications makes for happy customers even if their stuff is not shipped in a timely manner.

anyway, here's what I just wrote to him;

I have informed Grant that I will send you an e-mail telling you that I am not happy at all with my purchasing experience with you. First you don't ship the part on time and all you had to do was send a quick e-mail explaining that you had gotten way too busy and apologize for the delay in shipping but I had to send an e-mail asking for the information and when I did you get testy about it. Now, I have a part that is not what I ordered and paid for so I really can't use it and will not pay to ship it back either. I'll take this one in the rear but will never do business with you again and will let everyone know of my experience too. I will keep the e-mail traffic between you and I to prove my point (it shows dates and time in the headers as well as attitude in the body of the e-mails), I have posted the e-mail traffic on a MOPAR website and will probably do so on three other sites (MOPAR), that I frequent and let people make up their own minds. I also posted pictures (and will send them to you), of what my tunnel looks like and what I got from you.

Tony

I am just trying to help ya out man. I am sure if you and Ron communicate without the hostility this problem can be resolved. My understanding is that Ron is willing to help make this right but if you are posting bad press everywhere about texas acres perhaps this wont work in your favour.
I'll say it again... I feel Ron is willing to fix this.
You'll get more results with sugar than vinegar my friend.

Of course it's all my fault IF HE WOULD HAVE COMMUNICATED WITH ME IN THE FIRST DAMN PLACE THIS WOULDN'T OF GOTTEN TO THIS. That is all I asked and what I tried to say, perhaps I was not clear. As for me posting in several places (I've only posted here so far), it seems to have gotten some attention and I feel that even though things are working out maybe it wouldn't have if I had not, either way people have a right to know how business' treat folks wich is why I posted the COMPLETE e-mail traffice to include the headers, perhaps some will think I'm in the wrong - like you see to think, others might read it different. I put out my hard earned money and was told what I bought and paid for would be shipped to me in a certain time frame, IT WAS NOT, when I questioned that I got attitude - yeah that ****' me off and people telling me I haven't got the right to be upset ****' me off too

My e-mail from Ron

Here is the last e-mail from Ron that I just received.

Yes my people did send the incorrect part. I e-mailed Tony that I would
send out the correct one or give a refund and to not bother about sending
the other one back. This is the way I handle any of our mistakes if given
the opportunity.
