1970 Plymouth Fury 1, Police Pursuit, Resto. Project
1970 Plymouth Fury 1, 440HP, Original Minn. Highway Patrol car. Retired from service in 1975, with 74K miles,
Sold at auction, Motor and Trans, removed, then the car sat in somebodys back yard for years, I bought this car in 1998'ish,
This car was a factory original "Faster then yours" pursuit car, Has 2 fender tags, It has to much "Special Order" stuff for one tag, Also I found the original Built sheet intact, under rear seat,
Parts "Found"
Located a 1970 "440HP" motor in 2002
Located a 1970 737HD tranny in 2003
Located correct era style "police gear" Lights, radio, siren
(1998 through 2005)
Located rust free rear clip (2008)
Current state of car is: ground up resto.
Stripped and ready for body work.. Rust through in normal spots. trunk pan, and a few spots on rear quarter panel. One real small spot below rear window
Then paint, White over Maroon. Minn. Highway Patrol colors.
Yea, it ain't no Cuda, Roadrunner, or Hemi, But it was built to catch them..
And when was the last time you saw a real police pursuit at the car show?
When Its done, It will look like this,

...it was amateur night, and you
could tell. Whoever it was, they put
the dynamite under the passenger
side. But what they didn't know,
what nobody outside the factory knew,
was that that model car was made
with a metal plate under the driver's
seat. It's the only thing that saved
my life.

Back to basic's again.
Ok, I know its been a while, But with life in general, and trying to stay out of the heat during the summer, I was able to once again, work on my car.
Stats,,
found ALL the parts I needed, rust free rear clip, and the rest of the cop stuff..
I have also been in contact with the officer who was the primary trooper assignied to my car. He wants to take a trip out here to see his old ride.
I am trying to get as much as the body work done before the heat of the summer sets in again, Cause when its 120+ outside, This is the last place you want to be, And its real hard to pack up my project and tote it with me.
Next step is to have the rusted trunk floor replaced, I am not a welder, so this job I must farm out to somebody. In the mean time I will slowly sand away many years of paint, bird droppings, and scum, Then its off to be painted. YEA!! I can almost hear that 440HP purring now..
