Challenger Drag Pac on the Way!!

I got the call yesterday that I have been waiting on for over a year. My Challenger Drag Pac car now has a body assigned to it. Mopar tells me it will be app 6 weeks until delivery. Then the work starts. Hope to have it ready for the opening division races in NHRA and IHRA in 2010. A LOT of work will have to take place before that can happen.... My car is number 043.... Sounds like a great number for a Mopar!!!!! Even thought he is going to Ford next year.....

I will get the 6.1 Hemi and a automatic core form Mopar.. I'll build a race 904 and install the new Moser 8 3/4 rear that has been approved for NHRA Stock Eliminator...

scotts74birds Sep 17, 2009 07:06 PM

If you have time, i would like pics. This may be documentation for the future.

johnthegoalie Sep 17, 2009 08:48 PM

no manual :(

MReeves Sep 18, 2009 02:53 AM

I already have a file folder almost an inch thick on all the paperwork on this project. I plan on taking pictures all the way thru the build.. Will post them as I get it done... The reason for the automatic is its more consistant on the race track. This car is going to be raced on a regular basis.... Mack

67 GTX Sep 18, 2009 04:03 PM

sounds awsome

johnthegoalie Sep 19, 2009 01:35 AM

what are the chances of going against garlits, when its all done?

MReeves Sep 19, 2009 04:14 AM

Don Garlits and I will be running in the same class ( AS/A) and in the same division (2) in NHRA. The chances are very good I will have the honor of pulling beside him on the line... I'm not trying to be a smart a.. but, nothing better than to put "Big Daddy" on the trailer. Not many can say that...... He is "The Man" as far as I'm concerned...

67 GTX Sep 19, 2009 09:05 AM

i hope that you can do it man

Red Devil Sep 24, 2009 07:38 AM

yeah that would be awesome. congrats on that car by the way, I can't wait to see pics

Polaradude Oct 3, 2009 03:44 AM

OK, being away for awhile I am just catching up on threads that I have missed.
Sweet Jesus, you're getting it...awesome. Congrats. You have the pic of Garlits' drag pak, he got 001 right. Do you think you two will be side by side in Drag Pak's. Well done buddy, can't wait to see the pics.:D

MReeves Oct 3, 2009 03:53 AM

Hey Polaradude, glad to see you back.... Just talked to Mopar Thursday and they are expecting to deliver #30 Friday or Monday... That only leaves 13 more to mine. At building 16 per month we should get the "Come and Get It" call sometime the last of October. Garlits and I will be running in the same division and the same class. I really do not know how much division racing he wil do. He can use the past champions pass to run at ANY national event that he wants to. On the other hand I will have to get "grade points" to get to run the nationals.. But that is OK. He has done WAY More for this sport than I ever will.... But would like the chance to pull alongside of him just once!!!!!!

The body in white is assembled at Brampton. Then they are shipped to the build facility in Auburn Hills and they are converted to Drag Pak Cars. We will pick it up from the final build facility and transport it to Florida.

Pictures will be forthcoming for sure!!!!! I plan on recording as much as possible on digital photos as well as prints in an album. Will post them as we go!!!!! Thanks for all the support!!!!!!

scotts74birds Oct 28, 2009 05:40 PM

If ya plan on killing some time that day I'll be around. I work at the Sterling Hts plant about an hour southeast of Auburn Hills, and I live about an hour northeast in Imlay City. Ya need directions to Auburn Hills? Its easy, take 75 north, go 2000 miles, when you see the building with the pentastar, go right, they have thier own exit! HaHa. that easy. Congrats. Do they make a big deal out of the pick-up? Any big shots?

Sounds like an easy trip!!! At home I'm only 40 miles from I 75.. Just another 2,000 or so miles!!!!

I'm not expecting any fanfair at the delivery. I expect they will roll it out I will load it up and head down the road. My family is only 8 or 9 hours down the road and I'm sure we will try to get there on delivery day.

I know they have made a VERY big deal of some of the deliveries but they were "somebody" I'm just ole Mack... And i would rather have it that way!!!!!!!!

scotts74birds Oct 28, 2009 06:27 PM

Well good luck to ya! If you do have any problems or needs when you are up here let me know, I'll pm you my #.
