nick's 1968 Dodge Dart
This was just a few days after I got her WAYYYYY back in 2004. I was only 12 at the time :D
http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...u/0e28b296.jpg Unfortuantly this is the only picture I have on digital. I have a few other disposiable camera pictures that I will try to scan onto my girlfriends computer soon. |
Sorry about the wide picture. I'll have to re-size it this evening. I just threw this picture off of photobucket. Cant resize it where I'm at b/c I'm on a teachers computer.

Pictures from my transmission explosion in 2008 at Mopar's at the Strip:
Like that blown up 727 TF? http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...Allpics185.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...Allpics182.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...ictures005.jpg |
Just about a month after my 727 Explosion. I skipped school on this Friday. Thursday night worked on the Dart until 1am, then went to bed. Got up at 7am and was working on the Dart until 1pm, loaded up and left for the race track. Car didnt almost start.
I won the 2008 Pacific Raceways high school drags. I COULD have ran 14.00's, but I sand bagged a little bit b/c I spun the tires through 60ft on 2nd round of eliminations. AKA the picture you see here. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...schoodrags.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...andthedart.jpg |
A few race pictures:
LAst picture: I had a .005 red light against a guy whos been racing for many years. He races a pro stock eliminator car. I beat him a month earlier though at a different race. This was in the semis. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../bluedart4.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...challenger.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2.../Bluedart1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...IMG_0083-1.jpg http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i2...st4u/Dart2.jpg |
More to come later this evening!

awsome man
|
did it originally have a vinyl roof? how bad was all the prep work for paint?
|
John,
It was an original black vinyl top car. That first picture you see is how I got it in, except we tossed the hood b/c it was rusty. I chose to not put a vinyl top back on b/c then I would have to go with a black stripe, which wouldn't match my white buckets that are in it. plus i think blue and white go together better. I don't care too much for white vinyl tops. For the bodywork: Dart had no rust when I got it. Lucky, considering we live in the EVERGREEN state. Rains 10 out of 7 days here. At some point in my Darts life, she was hit on the front fender, which mis-aligned everything. While it was at the bodyshop, i also found out that it was hit on the passenger door and had the 80's bondo. 8 holes punctured in the door. That was all fixed. It has all original body parts except for the hood. |
looks awsome

With the tranny let go like that, it sure does make it easier to work on. lol.
You've done a really good job with it Nick. |

I'm sure that car will light up a tire or two. Sounds good and strong.

What are your plans next for it?
|
Sweet and have fun with it this summer >< Looks great :D
|
Great pix there. Are you going to be at the Car Show at Evergreen High this summer? I'm going to try and get BOTH of my cars, and my truck, there in the project car class. :D
j |
Probably not.
But you should come down the cruises on Friday nights at the Taco time on 196th. It used to be on Hwy 99 but theres been places built over there that took our space.. I'll have the Dart there closer to summer. I will also be at the Mopars Unlimited Sunbust show in August in grahm. Look forward to meeting you "J". -nick |

So what are you up to with your Dart now?
|
Bigblock heart transplant.
I've gone through hell and back with this car. It's like ive built 3 cars since ive had this one.... Too many times of pulling motor, putting it back in. Theres a 440 w/ a 3000 stall B&M, 727, 8 3/4 w/ 3:55's and a 26 inch tall drag radial out back. Best pass I made was 12.26 @ 108. Thats also w/ a flat steel hood, no fiberglass, Schumacher headers, full exhaust, chrome tips, 650 DP... Not badif you ask me. |
thats pretty good
|
Nice car man..

Figured i'd put up some pictures over the last little bit..
So one of my favorite pictures is this one: I got to go home for my birthday and went racing! I'm going to school in Sacramento still. ME and my dad got to race each other 3 times that night. 2 time runs, then we dialed in later and of course, he schooled me up... he went .001 on me. We both made it to the final 8 cars though. Yep, car is just a little old street driven mopar ;) The 2nd to last picture, i won a race in Sacramento. My parents drove down and surprised me with my car. Drove 850 miles so i could run one race! Same day i also got to dyno my car at school, it put down right around 400 whp and 390 lbs tq. I figured on more but can't be too sure till I can get it onto another dyno and see what happens from there. Link to the dyno vid and one of the rounds of me beating up on a 14 sec Srt4... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jexFl...el_video_title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=403Yo...feature=relmfu Attachment 15602 Attachment 15603 Attachment 15604 Attachment 15605 Attachment 15606 Attachment 15607 Attachment 15608 Hope you guys enjoy the update |
this thread is great. the car looks fantastic. awesome.
|
Thanks Sam.
It's a never ending project. Always changing, modifying, and of course, having fun! Thats what the car is built for! |

Did you blow the trans on the burn out ? Also did you put a bolt in sprag in the replacement. Did you add a scatershield ?
|
Yes, I blew the trans in the burnout box at Mopars at the Strip in 2008.
Yes, I put a bolt in sprag when I built the new transmission. Along with other goodies. And i have ran a kevlar blanket since. |
thatll buff right out.
|
That's not exactly a funny joke.
