Vin number
Vin number
Looking at a 68 fury 3 convertible vin starting with DM27G8D so the M is fury 3 the 27 means convertible G is 383 8 means 68 anD is plant in IL so what is the 1st D because I thought p was plymouth
Yeah looking at the 68 Plymouth Service Guide there is for the first digit V for Valiant, B for Barracuda, R for Plymouth 116", and P Plymouth 119"; did someone read off the VIN and maybe P was thought to have been D?
When I first started working on older vehicles, the VIN always felt like a jumble of numbers and letters, and I wasn’t sure how useful it really was. Over time I learned that decoding it can tell you a lot about what the truck or car originally came with, which helps a ton when you’re ordering parts or checking compatibility. One tool that’s been especially useful for me is doing a dodge window sticker lookup through https://carfast.express/en/window_sticker/dodge because it shows the factory options and equipment that were installed at build. Being able to compare that to what’s on the vehicle now makes it easier to spot differences and avoid mistakes. Once you get used to what the VIN can reveal, it quickly becomes one of the first things you check before doing any work.
