I need wheels and tires for my 68 polara. What should I go with?

Just stock I believe...When I got the car it was sitting on 20s, but I want something that's a little simpler. I was looking at smoothie wheels just today and they really caught my eye. especially if you add some white walls, should look good on a blue with white top polara. What's the best way to do independent research for wheels and tires that fit? Can I just take the specs from the service manual and start shopping?

This is my plan, and it may also give you some ideas....

On my first '68 Fury III with skirts, I put a set of the factory 14" x 6" Magnum 500 wheels with the trim rings and whitewall tires. I think that the wheels were from a '69 Roadrunner as a '68 wheel is chrome without trim rings.

Then, I found a set of 14" x 7" Magnum 500's from a Mach 1 Mustang. I cleaned them up, painted them, installed the Mopar center caps and whitewall tires. The extra inch of width was on the outside so the trim ring was deeper and as far as looks.....
They looked really sweet and that extra inch on the outside really made a difference and barely cleared the lever on the skirt.

This is the same look that I want for my new '68 Fury which, like your Polara, is blue with a white top. The only difference is that I will go with a 15" x 7" wheel in the event that I ever change to front disc brakes (the 14" wheels won't clear the calipers), with whitewall tires. Wheel Vintiques and I believe Stockton Wheel both have this wheel with the chrome edge and offer custom sizes and offsets.

Something else that I recently learned is that whitewall tires that were so common.... are not easy to find anymore.
Especially if you want an oddball size like a 225/70/14 or 15
