Question 1972 Duster

I have a numbers matching 1972 340 Duster under construction, and I hate the color of it, its the F7 sherwood green, and would like to paint it a 71 color y3 citrion. Do you think this will hurt the value of it since I will be going back together with it with all original, except for the color change..I get alot of feedback from different people saying as long as you stay with a mopar color it won't hurt the value of the build. What do you think? I watch Barrett Jackson, and see alot of numbers cars not the original color, and it seems to not hurt the value. Just curious what some might say. Undecided.

as long as the interior and dash is in accordance with the new color, and if the new color was available in the year of your car, i really dont see how it could really hurt your cars value

In my opinion, as long as you paint it as it came you will be fine.. You cannot cut ANY corners on this....... Or you will pay in the end...... Inner fenders, interior, engine compartment all of it has to match.... Not an easy job and if you have to pay for it all its expensive!!!! Damm expensive......

i agree. even if it was non mopar color, if it dont match the code even if it was available that yr its the wrong color, a collocter would reshoot it anyhow even if the color was correct

If your biggest concern is the value, leave it the original color. If you want to make something you can enjoy, then paint it whatever color you want. Value is only what someone else is willing to pay for it.

I really like the 71 color Y3, The car will be done up right with all the right parts, I have every nut and bolt off the car, complete to just the shell, you might want to say rotesiere restore. I have a 72 Duster Twister I did the same thing to, and I kept it all original, down to the slant 6, I liked the color on it so I kept it, and it is also a numbers car. That green on the 340 car is one ugly color in my opinion,,painting a high impact color may appreciate it. Just my opinion. Everything will be stock, except the color. Thanks guys for your input. People say do what you like,,its your car. Mr340 you are so right.
