383 very 440 swap

Hello everyone. I'm new here and appreciate any help you all can give me. I have a 1967 fury 3 vip. Has a stock 383 that runs but not happy doing it. I have found a nice running 1972 440 I'd lIke to bolt in. Question is what do I need to change to make the 440 fit? Torque converter or flex plate? Car is just a cruiser for me and the family. Just want it to run. Can anyone answer my question or give advice. Thanks a lot.

A little tweaking here and there.... Trans linkage, exhaust maybe, ect..but for the most part, easy swap....

Welcome.

If you search 1972 440 balance or cast crank etc. you'll get lots of info. Basically low performance starting in'72 had cast cranks and are externally balanced at the harmonic balancer and flex plate/torque converter, HP and truck versions still were forged and internally balanced. your 383 will be internal.

Not hard to overcome and with the engine bay room almost bolt for bolt swap and definitely worth the effort.

Highway speed step down to passing gear, BIG difference, hence the term "passing power".
