‘59 Saratoga left blinker?

Hi all

New to the forum, I’m looking for some help with an issue I've been having.

For a while the left blinker worked intermittently, moving the turn signal stock around while in the down (left) position got it going sometimes. Wondering how I can get access to the switch in the column, looks to me like pulling the steering wheel will allow the plastic column cover to slide off? Is there some kind of special wheel puller for these older Mopars at all?

I believe it's the switch, not 100% certain but the right side blinker is now starting to have the same intermittent problem. The bulbs are good, the light on the dash does not light up for the left side which makes me think it is the switch.

Am I right to pull the wheel off??

Thanks
Sam

I agree on checking the flasher too. Those signals don't work well if at all when the car is off. Your question about the wheel puller is yes there is a small puller that screws into the holes on each side of the main steering column nut.

I previously said they don't work well with the car off. I meant to say with the key on and engine not running the flashers often don't work properly. It's best to have the engine producing power while checking the turn signals. .

Much appreciated gentleman 👍

Will check the flasher tomorrow and hope I don't need to pull that wheel... if it's as seized as everything else on the car.

Yes, you're on the right track!, you'll need to pull the steering wheel to access the turn signal switch. Use a steering wheel puller (commonly required for older Mopars). Once the wheel is off, remove the column cover to inspect and replace the switch
